I have such a new appreciation of these gorgeous hand painted porcelain works of art since studying the history. Chinese artists made the trip out of Communist China during the Cold War in order to practice their gifts in British held Hong Kong. Many of these items were imported from Japan, Painted in Hong Kong, and then they could be exported. The colors are just so vibrant. The lotus is a symbol of enlightenment. This piece is well marked and someone placed felt rounds on the bottom. It measures 6 inches across and 1.25 inches tall. Double boxed and shipped carefully.
